Westhafen sits out west, right by the old harbour canal, and there is no train stop at the door. Here is the full breakdown, bus, tram, or car, plus the night lines for getting home after DOCKYARD.
Getting to Westhafen and back again, sorted: here are the routes in, the real distances, and the best way home afterwards.
carparingdocyardBy car Enter Ernst-Keil-Straße 17, 04179 Leipzig into your navigation.
Budget about 10 minutes total once you include finding parking and walking in, street parking nearby is limited. Carpooling is your best friend here, and if you can, arrive a little earlier than you normally would.
fmgrecordsdockyardsfestivalBy bus Take bus 60 towards Lindenauer Hafen and get off at Dr.-H.-Duncker-Straße. From there, budget about 9 minutes on foot to the venue. It is a straightforward walk, just give it more time than your maps app promises, especially in a crowd.
fmgrecordsBy tram Take tram 15 towards Miltitz and get off at Lindenauer Bushof. Budget around 20 minutes on foot from there. This is the longer walk of the three public transport options, so do not leave this one until the last minute.
Getting to Westhafen is one thing, getting home afterwards is where people usually get stuck. Here's exactly how to make it back into town, whether you're heading out at 3, 4 or 5 in the morning.
Here's the plan, sorted by what time you're actually walking out the door.
Leaving around 3am
This is your easiest window. The LVB Nightliner network runs night buses and a night tram from Hauptbahnhof at 1:11, 2:22 and 3:33, and since this is a Saturday-into-Sunday night, extra weekend departures are added at 1:45 and 3:00 as well. Better still, the N60 runs specifically between Lindenau, Bushof and Lipsiusstraße on weekend nights, which is the closest night line to Westhafen. Walk to Lindenauer Bushof, about 20 minutes from the venue, and catch it from there.
This is the gap. The last Nightliner departures are done by 3:33 (or 3:00 on the extra weekend schedule), and regular Sunday service doesn't start again until roughly 5:00 to 5:15. If you're heading out right around 4, there's no bus or tram waiting for you, so this is the moment to call a taxi rather than stand around in the cold. Taxi 4884 runs around the clock on (0341) 4884, or book through the FreeNow app.
Leaving around 5am
Good news, by 5 to 5:15 the regular weekend network picks back up on a 30 minute rhythm across the city, so tram 15 and bus 60 should be running their normal early routes again. Walk the same way you came in and you're back on the regular timetable.
